AALOC is pleased to announce that Dr. Charlotte Laws, recipient of the 2006 Los Angeles Animal Humanitarian Award. Dr. Charlotte Laws is serving her second term on the Greater Valley Glen Council, was appointed to serve on Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's 912 Commission to act as the Director of Animal Welfare for the community, and is the founder and president of the League for Earth & Animal Protection. She is currently involved the implementation of public "no-kill animal shelters" in California cities and is working to create a California Animal Commission through Governor Schwarzenegger's office.
Having been interviewed on many Larry King Live, The Late Show, Good Day L.A., NBC News, Fox News, CBS News, ABC News, The Journal, Oprah Winfrey, AM Los Angeles, Attitudes, People Are Talking, in addition to numerous radio / local TV programs, AAL is thrilled and honored that Dr. Laws has accepted AAL's request to speak at our Valentine's Luncheon, and will be discussing the no-kill movement, and how California may one day become a no-kill state!
San Francisco, Berkeley and Tompkins County (New York) have ended euthanasia of most shelter animals. New York City and the state of Utah are in the process of becoming "no kill." Yet, Los Angeles continues to kill almost 50,000 dogs, cats, and rabbits each year in shelters, and OC is not far behind. Let's help make this happen in Orange County, Los Angeles, and throughout the state and reduce taxpayer costs at the same time!
This will be an interesting and informative event, so don't miss out! Seating is limited to 130 people; tickets must be paid in advance.
Please call the Humane Center at (714) 893-4393 for reservations.
