When Carol, a concerned bystander, witnessed tiny Georgie being dragged by his leash by a local transient, she reported the abuse.
Georgie was taken by animal control and held as "evidence."
Carol said, "I spent the next three months calling the OC Humane Society in HB about his status.
They would not let me see Georgie or give me any information about his condition, etc.
The vet at the pound recommended euthanizing him, and I have no idea how he actually survived.
Georgie was in a cage and not walked for close to three months.
I phoned animal rights organizations, politicians, and even went down to
the District Attorney's office in Santa Ana with a friend who is a lawyer.
I met him, fell in love and took him home."
Carol took Georgie to the Eye Care Clinic in Tustin where it was determined that Georgie needs to have one of his eyes removed due to painful glaucoma and the other has a cataract, leaving Georgie mostly blind.
Carol adds, "I do not know how I will get the funds, but Georgie is a sweet little soul and loves people. After all he has been through, I hope to give him a new chance in his little life."
Estimate for surgery for both eyes: $3800
Donations of any amount will make it possible for Georgie to have the painful eye removed and see again with the other eye.
