The rescue kennel is in desperate need of renovation. The 50-year-old kennel design has provided little ventilation to the dog runs in the sweltering heat of the summer, nor did it provide any protection to the dogs on chilly 34 degree winter nights. Nothing could be done for 3 dogs that tried to find warmth without the comfort of a blanket because they have eaten blankets in the past and could die of obstructions. Duke, our red shepherd mix, had to spend 2 days in the emergency room this month after eating rotted pieces of sharp chain link, until they passed out of his body.
We are in dire need of funds to demolish, and rebuild a new indoor kennel, which will allow the dogs access to outdoor runs through dog doors. There will be heat and air conditioning, and the yards will be raised to prevent flooding, and the plumbing and drains all replaced. Although we have more than half the money raised, we cannot accomplish this without $100,000 in assistance.
Please find it in your heart to contribute whatever you can. Businesses and
individuals can make tax-deductible donations on multiple levels. Twenty-six
dog runs will be built, and for a $2500 donation, your name or business name
will be honored on a permanent plaque on the wall of one dog run, for the life
of the kennel, telling all visitors to AAL that you provided a safe haven for
rescued dogs. You will also be acknowledged in the AAL newsletter and website.
The 500 CLUB will designate on wall plaques at the AAL Humane Center those able
to donate $500 or more. You can memorialize a pet, or honor your loved ones on
engraved tiles that will adorn the walls of the kennel for $150. Foster homes
are being arranged, and if you can foster a medium to large dog for 8 to 12 weeks
during construction, you can spare AAL the boarding expenses.
With your support, Animal Assistance League’s programs have helped thousands of abused, neglected, and abandoned animals for over 30 years.
Thank you and bless you for all that you have done, and know that we need you now, more than we ever have.
