This sweet one and a half year old boxer mix was
used as a "bait" dog. Bait dogs are smaller
dogs sacrificed while being used to train fighting dogs.
Poor Nicky didn't stand a chance. He was attacked in an
unbearably gruesome, bloodthirsty illegal activity and
then left to die on the streets of South Los Angeles.
He had deep bloody bites and open wounds from head to
toe. He was taken to the local shelter where Nicky waited
for a miracle, but was just hours from having his life
ended. AAL gave Nicky the miracle he needed. He was rescued,
and taken to our AAL vet who even found a 38 caliber bullet
in him where he had been shot! Today, Nicky is completely
healed and awaiting a loving home while in our care. He
is playful and never misses an opportunity for a belly
rub. Despite his scarred and painful past, he still greets
every person he meets with a wiggle and a kiss. He will
never be used as bait again.
